உயிர் எழுத்துகள் Stress Test
காணொளி Watch
Tamil children don’t practise in silent studios. They practise with the TV on, a fan running, someone cooking in the next room. So we tested it: does our pronunciation score still work when the place gets noisy?
Episode 04 of களம் · Kalam, our build-in-public series on Tamil speech technology.
What we tested:
The uyir letters (உயிர் எழுத்துகள், the Tamil vowels)
from a quiet room to [noisiest place]
Same phone, same letters, 3 attempts per letter in every place
What we did not do: we did not re-take bad scores and we did not pick the best attempts. Every score is shown on screen.
An important limit: this is an informal field test with a small number of speakers, on the vowel letters only. It is not a benchmark, and it does not tell us how the consonant letters would do. Those are harder, and are next.
Tell us in the comments: which place should we test next?
